Elk Grove Village man charged with pimping

A 31-year-old Elk Grove Village man was arrested Thursday on pimping charges following a sting last month by the Cook County Sheriff's Office targeting prostitution.

Blake Steckel is charged with promoting prostitution after investigators from Sheriff Tom Dart's vice unit determined he had placed an online advertisement offering prostitution services of a woman. Deputies responded to the ad and were led to Steckel, authorities said.

The woman is considered a victim and was not charged, sheriff's officials said.

Dart said since 2009 his office's vice unit has made roughly 750 arrests by responding to ads placed on the website that Steckel used. Steckel is the 51st arrest for human trafficking by Dart's office since 2007.
