Village Administrator, and Police Chief to discuss their activities. - I regularly attend CLCJAWA board meetings, in which Lindenhurst will become a full voting member soon. - I am active as the liaison for the Lake Villa Fire Protection District and the Lindenhurst Plan Commission - I attend other commission meetings, such as the Lindenhurst Lakes Commission and the Lindenhurst Sanitary District. How would you describe the condition of your community's budget, and what are the most important specific actions the town should take to assure providing the level of services that people want?Lindenhurst operates on a tight budget. On average, less than 3% of a resident's property taxes goes to the Village. Our current water and sewer rates have been consistently lower than our surrounding communities. In order to provide the level of service our residents want, we continue to look at opportunities to reduce operating expenses, and invest more of the precious dollars we have available for infrastructure improvements.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?Since we were elected to office in 2007, the Village Board is constantly looking at ways to be more fiscally responsible. We continue to look at options to outsource certain activities. We have diverted over $1,057,000 over the last 2 years from ongoing operational costs to community improvement projects. As a Board, we recognize that we need to allocate more funds to street repairs and resurfacing. Revenue from new commercial development is one option to provide more funds for street resurfacing.Describe your leadership style and explain how you think that will be effective in producing effective actions and decisions with your village board or city council.I am collaborative - I place a high value on teamwork.
