Glen Ellyn woman pleads guilty to attempt disorderly conduct
A Glen Ellyn resident has pleaded guilty to attempted disorderly conduct for filing a false complaint with the Oak Brook Police Department, officials said Monday.
Sarena Dower was arrested by Oak Brook police in September for driving with a suspended driver's license, police said; she was given a ticket and released.
Afterward, Dower filed a complaint with Oak Brook police, claiming the officer used excessive force and had pushed her to the ground in front of her boyfriend and 4-year-old daughter and pushed her into a wall at the police department, according to a news release. She claimed she was mistreated because she is black, the release said.
Oak Brook police investigated the matter, which included looking at the in-car video recording and all video recordings within the police department. The complaint was closed as "unfounded."
Oak Brook police got a warrant for attempt disorderly conduct for Dower in light of the false complaint. The warrant was served and Dower pled guilty on Feb. 10.
Dower was sentenced to pay a fine of $497, complete 40 hours of community service and write an apology letter to the arresting officer.
