All-Star defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk back on ice

ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis Blues All-Star defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk has resumed skating coming off abdominal surgery earlier this month, but isn't close to returning to the lineup.

Coach Ken Hitchcock said Shattenkirk has been skating for a few days and was on the ice for about a half-hour before Monday's practice.

The 26-year-old Shattenkirk led NHL defensemen with 32 assists and was second with 40 points when he was injured in a victory at Washington on Feb. 1.

Hitchcock said he hasn't consulted the training staff about a timetable for Shattenkirk's return, but said the player remained weeks away.
