Require labeling of modified foods

I am concerned that many of the products on our grocers' shelves contain genetically engineered foods, but we are unable to identify them. Labeling would solve that issue.

I believe these GMO products should be labeled so that we as consumers can make informed choices about the food we serve to our families.

GMOs are primarily made by chemical companies to withstand high doses of pesticide application. Some GMOs actually contain their own pesticides within their genetic makeup. Is that what you want to eat?

Sixty-four countries, including the entire European Union, Japan and Australia, have mandatory labeling of GMO foods. Even Russia and China label these foods!

We are behind the curve on this issue. The Illinois state legislature should grant Illinois citizens the right to choose. Let us decide what we want to eat.

I urge you to call your state senator and ask them to support GMO labeling.
