Attend Dist. 300 legislative forum Feb. 23

The community engagement committee of the Community Unit District 300 board of education will host the District 300 Legislative Forum at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 23, at Jacobs High School, 2601 Bunker Hill Road in Algonquin.

The District 300 Legislative Forum features a panel of local legislators and District 300 administrators who will discuss the latest legislative issues impacting education and take questions from the audience.

The following legislators are scheduled to participate on the panel: state Senators Karen McConnaughay and Michael Noland, and state Representatives David McSweeney, Anna Moeller, Robert Pritchard, and Michael Tryon.

All District 300 parents, staff, students and community members are welcome to attend.

"The Legislative Forum enhances the power of our collective voice, the students, parents, elected officials and staff," says Steve Fiorentino, District 300 board member and chairman of the newly formed community engagement committee. "This is what makes our advocacy powerful. The Legislative Forum is one tool to make our voices heard to improve our schools and our educational system as a whole."

A casual reception begins at 6:30 p.m. where attendees can enjoy food while visiting with the state legislators who represent the District 300 community. The forum will begin at 7 p.m. inside the Jacobs auditorium.
