2 more KinderCare infants diagnosed with measles

Two more infants enrolled at a Palatine day care center have been diagnosed with measles.

In Illinois, there are now 13 confirmed cases, all in Cook County.

A dozen of the patients are linked to the outbreak at the KinderCare Learning Center, 929 E. Palatine Road, a state department of health spokeswoman said.

Health officials this week cleared five infants who contracted the highly contagious disease to return to the day care center.

Measles can cause fever, runny nose, cough and a rash. The disease can pose severe health complications, including fatal cases of pneumonia and encephalitis.
