Competition whittles down 2015 Bartlett Idols

On Feb. 7, more than 30 competitors battled for the right to be called the next Bartlett Idol. The Oak Room at Bartlett Community Center was filled with hopefuls and their supporting fans.

With competition for the Youth and Tween divisions starting at 9:30 a.m. by 10:30 a.m. the winners were announced. For the first time in Bartlett Idol's nine year history there was a tie for the Youth Bartlett Idol so they were both awarded the medal: Julia Dib and Angelina Sagadraca. In the other divisions the awards went to Tween I Bartlett Idol: Sophie Leo and 2015 Tween II Bartlett Idol: Gauri Yadav.

Act II began at noon with the teens and adults singing for their place in Bartlett history. Turning in a winning performance singing "I'm Yours" Skyler Luby was named Bartlett Idol Teen I. Summer Luby stepped up with her rendition of "Part of Your World" to be named the Adult Bartlett Idol. The competition continued with the Group division and fierce competition. In the end the trio of Nicole Kamarat, Rachel Carberry, and Alex Feltenberger were awarded the Group Bartlett Idol medal with their original composition "Superstar". The final competition included the Open Division with our nonresidents performing and the shining star was nine year old Madelyn Conter with "The Girl From 14G" winning the Open Division Bartlett Idol title.

Thank you to all the competitors, volunteers, and audience members for making the 2015 Bartlett Idol event a wonderful way to celebrate and showcase the talent and support the arts. Bartlett Idol is an annual event sponsored by the Bartlett Park District.
