Itasca School District 10 Formally Announces the Hiring of Their New Superintendent

The Board approved a three-year performance-based contract that will pay Mr. Benes a base salary of $175,000 for the 2015-2016 contract year. He will assume his duties as Superintendent on July 1, 2015, replacing Dr. Marcia Tornatore who is retiring at the end of the school year.

Craig Benes has served the Chicago Public Schools for the last 16 years in several leadership roles including a special education teacher, assistant principal and a curriculum writer for the district with the Museums and Public School Project. Craig is a graduate of the New Leaders for New Schools training program and served as a principal for six years at Talcott Fine Arts and with the Ravenswood Ridge Network supervising over 40 schools for the last four years. Currently he is working in the CEO's Office on several professional development projects for the district. Craig is married to an educator and they are proud parents to three school-age children. He is looking forward to serving the Itasca Community and building upon its extraordinary track record of success.
