Establish good fitness habits early at Feb. 24 Family Fun Night

Even infants can get in on the fun in the "snowball room"

It's that time of year for the ever-popular Early Childhood Family Fun Night. The Schaumburg Park District event will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at Meineke Recreation Center, 220 E. Weathersfield Way.

The free event features fun for ages 6 and younger along with parents. There will be board games, riding sticks and scooter boards. And there will be a climber, ring toss and balance beam.

The event also will feature exercise equipment for the littlest exercise enthusiasts. Barb Lindholm, Park District early childhood resource coordinator, said there will be a preschool fitness station equipped with a kid-sized treadmill, weight bench, cycle and elliptical machine.

"It's just a fun event," said Lindholm, adding that the event is unstructured and that parents and children may come and go freely throughout the event.

The fun night wouldn't be complete without the legendary snowball room. That's where the youngest fitness buffs will find soft equipment to play with, including a parachute and cotton balls.
