Register Now for Youth Softball and Baseball

What is it about baseball and softball that draws kids back year after year? Why do we romanticize about the "Field of Dreams" and rally around our favorite teams? The Cubs…the Sox…which side are you on? Maybe it's the strategy, the skill or the suspense. Or, it could be the fact that everyone can play. Baseball doesn't require a certain height, speed or weight. All you need is a willingness to do your best.

Registration is now underway for Spring Youth Baseball and Youth Softball at the Hoffman Estates Park District. Sign up by Friday, Feb. 20 to get a $20 discount on fees. Practices begin in April. Scholarships are available through the Friends of HE Parks Foundation for families facing financial hardships (visit heparks.org/foundation-scholarships/)

For the kids in 4th grade and younger, every attempt is made to place them in teams that practice at fields near their homes. Friendship requests are accepted, too, so whenever possible, kids can be on the same team with their buddies.
