Addison woman says she'll never open her Comcast bill with slur

After Comcast crews tried 39 times to fix her HD signal, Mary Bauer admits she may have raised her voice when she called for the 40th and final attempt.

But the Addison woman insists she never, ever said anything to earn the nickname given to her by the cable company's billing department.

Bauer, 63, said she noticed immediately when she got her mail Wednesday that her name had been changed in the billing window of her most recent Comcast statement. It read Super Bitch Bauer.

"I was surprised, I was shocked and I was flabbergasted," Bauer said. "I will never open that bill, no matter how overdue it gets, because that bill is not addressed to my name."

Bauer said her frustrations with the cable giant began in January 2014 when she decided she wanted to upgrade her service to high definition. But the new service, she said, kept "crashing" her television.

"After the 39th service call, I'd had enough. I called and told them to come get their lousy boxes and I'd just keep regular definition," she said. "I simply couldn't take it anymore. Sure as heck I raised my voice, but I never swore at them and I never called anyone a name."

Bauer said she went back to watching analog television with no hassles until October of last year.

"I didn't get a bill from October to January and they were charging me late fees," Bauer said. "Every month I called and told them I hadn't got my bill and then I would send a check in a separate envelope.

"When I finally do get a bill, I'm treated like this. This is disgraceful,"

Comcast spokesman Jack Segal said Friday the company is trying to figure out how the mistake occurred.

"We are continuing to investigate this thoroughly and have reached out to our customer to apologize and try to make it right," Segal said. "We spoke to the customer for close to an hour this morning and came to an agreement. We're glad we were able to solve her problem."

Segal would not elaborate on the agreement or how the problem was solved.

Bauer, however, said Friday afternoon that she had not yet heard from Comcast but was awaiting their call.

"Someone owes me a big apology," Bauer said. "And Comcast needs to send every single one of their employees to school to learn how to treat customers because I don't want to hear about this happening to anyone else."
