No one injured in Island Lake house fire, cause under investigation

The cause of an Island Lake house fire that resulted in about $100,000 in damages remains under investigation, authorities said Monday.

Wauconda Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Ed Dagdick said firefighters were called to the 3600 block of Lakeview Drive about 7 p.m. Saturday. Firefighters saw black smoke coming from the roof of the single-family home when they arrived, Dagdick said.

The fire was extinguished in about 30 minutes, he said. No one was injured, he said, and no one was in the house at the time of the fire.

He said the home was deemed uninhabitable after the fire was extinguished.

Firefighters from Nunda Township, Cary, Grayslake, Lake Villa, Countryside Fire Protection District, and Palatine Rural assisted Wauconda firefighters in fighting the fire, Dagdick said.
