One shot in Elgin home invasion

An Elgin man shot in a home invasion early Saturday is expected to survive, authorities said.

The crime occurred about 1 a.m. on the 700 block of Elma Avenue, police said in a news release.

The man was shot by someone armed with a shotgun who had entered the home, police said. He was shot in the hands, chest and face.

Before police arrived, another resident drove the 43-year-old victim to the police station. He was then taken to Presence Saint Joseph Hospital for treatment.
