‘Offensive image' sent to Fremd students

Palatine police are investigating after an email with a “graphic and offensive image” went out to students at Fremd High School, District 211 officials say. Palatine police were immediately notified, Principal Kurt Tenopir said in an email sent to parents just after 4 p.m. Wednesday. Full story.

Delnor knife suspect has lengthy criminal past

A 30-year-old man accused of choking a relative and pulling a knife at Delnor Hospital in Geneva is due in court today in Indiana, where police say he fled after Tuesday's attack. Justin B. Patzer of Campton Hills was arrested Tuesday night by police in Hammond, Indiana. An argument over ownership and use of a vehicle the family shared started the attack, police say. Full story.

Kane County to slash sheriff's budget

Following Kane County Sheriff Don Kramer's decision to push U.S. Marshal detainees out of the county jail so officers could operate with a safer staffing ratio, a county board committee has told Kramer to slash his budget $225,000 to compensate for lost revenue from housing the detainees. Board members have threatened to slash as much as $2.5 million from his budget — the total expected from that contract this year. Full story.

Defense seeks to suppress statements

A Palatine man was coerced into a confession and denied legal counsel, his defense attorneys said in a motion filed this week. James P. Eaton, 36, is charged with first degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse in connection with the murder of Amber Creek, a one-time Palatine resident who disappeared in January 1997 after leaving a Chicago juvenile home where she had been living. Suburban man in tonight's ‘Biggest Loser' finale

A Bloomingdale man could earn the title of “The Biggest Loser” tonight in the season finale of NBC's weight loss competition show. Toma Dobrosavljevic, who has shed 137 pounds to make it to the final three, will weigh in during tonight's live finale, which begins at 7 p.m. The winner will get a $250,000 prize. Full story.

Pavement repair work will cause restrictions in both directions on Barrington Road from Lake Street to Schaumburg Road affecting Hanover Park, Streamwood and Schaumburg. The road work will last through June 30th. Full traffic.

Hawks give up late goals, fall to Kings
