Argument results in shooting in Elgin

Elgin police are investigating a shooting that occurred Friday evening during an argument.

Police said officers responded at 8:52 p.m. to the 800 block of Preston Avenue for a report of a shooting.

Officers learned that an 18 year-old man from Chicago was walking with a group when a vehicle pulled alongside the group and an argument ensued.

At some point gunshots were fired, and the victim was struck in his thigh.

The victim was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital for a non-life-threatening injury.
