DuPage parts ways with animal control boss

The veterinary administrator who oversaw DuPage County Animal Care and Control for more than two years no longer works at the Wheaton facility.

Dr. Todd Faraone's employment with the county ended this week, a county spokesman confirmed Friday. But the spokesman wouldn't say why because it's a personnel matter.

Meanwhile, the county issued a statement saying it's working with partner veterinarians to provide care at the animal shelter, including routine vaccinations and emergency care.

"Shelter leadership and staff are committed to continuing its progressive approach to caring for DuPage County's homeless pets," said James Joseph, director of DuPage's Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. "Animals will continue to be treated humanely and evaluated fairly."

Faraone was employed by the county since January 2007. He was appointed interim director in October 2012 after the shelter's former executive director, Kerry Vinkler, was fired.
