Bauer's Brauhaus in Palatine reborn under new name

A pair of Palatine businessmen received approval from the village this week to resurrect Bauer's Brauhaus and rename the downtown eatery after themselves.

The establishment, which closed in December after three years of operation, will still have the German food and trappings that its clientele was used to, but will now be named Schnell's Brauhaus after new owners Joel and Brian Schnell.

Village Manager Reid Ottesen said that the brothers, who have run The Donkey Inn at 923 South Plum Grove Road for eight years, have good plans for the property.

"They do have a proven track record within the village," Ottesen said at the village council meeting this week.
