Elgin man, woman face drug and gun charges
An Elgin police search warrant uncovered drugs and a gun Tuesday evening and led to multiple charges against two people, officials said.
The charges came after a monthlong investigation by Elgin's special investigations division after officers received a tip that drugs were being sold at a home on the 1200 block of Fleetwood Drive in the Buena Vista Apartment Complex, police said in a news release.
Taft C. Burtton, 22, and Brianna T. Clark, 21, were both charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver within 1,000 feet of a senior center; unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver; possession of a firearm with a defaced serial number; unlawful possession of a controlled substance; unlawful use of a weapon - no FOID card.
Burtton was also charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a parolee and unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
A Kane County judge set bond at $150,000 for each, which means they'd both have to pay $15,000 to be released as their cases progress through the courts.
