Why another cover article on heroin use?

The Daily Herald ran an enlightening and lengthy (seven-part) series in 2014, covering the rise of heroin in the suburbs, the lives it has tragically impacted, the use of Naloxone for overdoses, etc. I agree that we shouldn't turn a "blind eye" to this serious problem, but enough already.

And what good does it serve to make public the private anguish of the family profiled in the Jan. 9 article, especially the photos of the daughter/mother struggling with addiction? Heartbreaking. And insensitive and bordering on exploitive on the Herald's part.

Heroin is a scourge. We get it. Time to move on to other serious problems plaguing the suburbs, such as under-employment, unemployment, lack of affordable housing, lack of affordable health care despite the good intentions of the Affordable Care Act, lack of appropriate treatment and housing for the mentally ill, and homelessness.
