Warrenville man dies after being hit by car

Warrenville police continue to investigate a Thursday night crash that killed a 56-year-old Warrenville man who was crossing Route 59 near Continental Drive.

Deputy Chief Dave Schar said Friday that a Ford Escort traveling south on Route 59 at 8:49 p.m. struck the man as he attempted to cross the road.

Police said James C. Marlowe was taken to Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield where he was pronounced dead.

No charges have been filed but the investigation into the crash remains open.

"The driver stopped and immediately called 911," Schar said. "The investigation is not complete, but at this point everything indicates this was just an unfortunate accident."

Schar said police were unable to determine where Marlowe, who lived alone, was coming from, but he appeared to be headed home.

Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash to call (630) 393-2131 and ask to speak with the on-duty supervisor.
