Submit your short film for Screen Test Student Fest

Schaumburg's Screen Test Student Fest is seeking short films from students in grades five-12 to show at its ninth annual festival at the Prairie Center for the Arts on April 24 and 25. Deadline to enter is Monday, March 9.

Since 2007, Screen Test has been showcasing the talents of young filmmakers who embrace the motion picture medium as an artistic form of self-expression. Over the past eight festivals, Screen Test has exhibited over 100 works, ranging from experimental animation to documentaries and comedy, by students and classes from throughout the Chicago area. The festival has also awarded thousands of dollars in cash and prizes to young directors of outstanding works.

Short films (maximum 10 minutes in length) made by students in grades five-8 qualify for Screen Test Jr., the festival's event on Friday, April 24. A $100 cash prize will be awarded to the top film selected by a panel of judges. Entry fee for Screen Test Jr. is $5 per submission.

Students in grades nine-12 can submit their short films for the Screen Test Festival and Competition on Saturday, April 25. Cash prizes will be awarded to top films in categories including Best Writing, Best Production Values, Audience Award, Third Place, Second Place, and the top honor of Best in Show (worth $500).

Entry fee is $10 per submission. A special category, Flix in Six, also open to high school students, will highlight selected six-second films on April 25 with a $100 cash prize going to the top entry.
