Former teacher pleads guilty to obscenity

A 30-year-old Palatine man has pleaded guilty to an obscenity charge related to contact with a teenager, court records show.

Brian Rossetti, who taught physical education at Wheeling High School for about five months from August 2009 to January 2010, was charged with sexual abuse earlier this year.

According to court records, he pleaded guilty earlier this month to a misdemeanor obscenity charge. He was sentenced to 18 months of supervision and ordered to pay fines totaling $334.

Prosecutors reduced the charges based "on the evidence and in consultation with the victim's family," said a spokeswoman with the Cook County state's attorney's office.

Rossetti was neither a coach nor a teacher at the time of the offense, the spokeswoman said.
