Congress passing bills not knowing details
Our legislators passed the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) without reading it. Nancy Pelosi said it best, in essence: "We have to pass this law so we can see what is in it." Now we have our new omnibus budget resolution under passage with thousands of pages, including dozens of new pages added the last night prior to the adoption and before the midnight deadline. Same story - no time to read, understand and negotiate.
Why do we work these important decisions under the cover of darkness and at the final hour? Answer: Our broken legislative system, both the House and Senate, do not consider the details of the bill. They negotiate decisions without details.
We need leadership and we need it now. Enough! Vote the incumbents out starting with Mitch McConnell and John Boehner. We have to stop shooting in the dark.
