Rolling Meadows man gets 12 years for sex assault
A Rolling Meadows man pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a teenage boy last September and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.
Juan Munoz-Tapia, 49, pleaded guilty to aggravated criminal sexual assault last week, court records show.
Munoz-Tapia, who received credit for 81 days in custody, must complete at least 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole. He must register as a sex offender upon his release.
He was also ordered to pay $894 in fines, court records show.
Munoz-Tapia invited the teen to his apartment for food and drink on Sept. 19, 2014, said prosecutors at an earlier bond hearing. Once the boy was inside, Munoz-Tapia locked the door, sexually assaulted him and ordered him not to tell anyone about the attack, prosecutors said.
