Couple charged after Crystal Lake drug raid

A Crystal Lake couple faces numerous drug-related charges after a raid on their home, police say.

On Friday evening, police used a search warrant to enter their home in the 500 block of Chardonnay Lane, police said in a news release.

The search turned up cocaine, prescription pills, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, police said. Aquiles T. Rangel, 47, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver more than 900 grams of cocaine; unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school; three counts of unlawful possession of a controlled substance - cocaine; unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver; six counts of possession of a controlled substance, prescription drugs; unlawful possession of cannabis; and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

De Victoria Rangel-Cortes, 40, was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver more than 900 grams of cocaine; unlawful possession of a controlled substance - cocaine; six counts of possession of a controlled substance, prescription drugs; unlawful possession of cannabis; and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

The search and arrests were a combined effort between the Crystal Lake Police Department's Targeted Response Unit, the Drug Enforcement Administration Task Force and the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

The couple remains in the McHenry County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
