Sign the bill letting instructors teach

Gov. Pat Quinn has recently granted 126 clemency petitions. He needs to sign SB 2887, recently passed by both Illinois houses and currently on his desk. SB 2887 will grant clemency to 80-plus adjunct and full-time faculty at Oakton Community College in Des Plaines who are scheduled to be terminated July 1 because of an ill-conceived bill sponsored by Sen. Daniel Biss. SB 2887 will amend the current law and allow the affected teachers to continue to be gainfully employed at Oakton.

I hope Gov. Quinn has gotten over losing the election and finally get something right by signing the bill on his desk. I am quite sure that if he can't afford a new pen to sign the amendment, the Gov.-elect, Bruce Rauner, can afford one!
