Billy Goat closing Randhurst Village location Dec. 15

The Billy Goat Tavern and Grill in Mount Prospect, one of the founding tenants of the redeveloped Randhurst Village shopping center, will say goodbye after one final Bears game next Monday, Dec. 15.

General Manager Markos Constantinou, son-in-law of Billy Goat proprietor Sam Sianis, said the decision to close was very much a cooperative one with Randhurst Village management.

“We worked mutually with Randhurst about the best business decision for both parties,” Constantinou said. “We had a wonderful three years here. We're two businesses working together to make sure the future for both of us is bright.”

Constantinou said that a new dining tenant has been chosen to succeed the Billy Goat at Randhurst Village, but he wanted to leave the announcement of its identity to the shopping center. Randhurst officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

“I think it's a great concept that's coming in here and one I'll be visiting myself,” Constantinou said.

Meanwhile, the family that owns the 80-year-old Billy Goat franchise is excited by a new location at the Yorktown Center shopping mall in Lombard, which opened over Thanksgiving.

Constantinou said the Mount Prospect location has taught the family about the different approach to doing business in the suburbs, as opposed to the Billy Goat's decades-old base in Chicago. Those lessons are already being applied in Lombard.

“The mall's set up a little different,” Constantinou said of Yorktown Center. “It's an indoor mall and we're set up right near the food court.”

Though the Lombard site wasn't originally planned as a replacement for the Mount Prospect restaurant, it is where Constantinou will be spending most of his time now. He encouraged those who enjoyed the Randhurst restaurant to come by and see him in Lombard.

“I want to personally thank those who frequented us in Mount Prospect,” Constantinou said. “They made the three years at Randhurst a great place to be.”
