Resident survey planned in Lincolnshire

To clarify an article in Tuesday's Daily Herald, Lincolnshire officials are hoping to exceed a 15-percent response rate with an upcoming survey.

Lincolnshire residents soon could have an opportunity to tell village leaders what they think about the town's police services, communication efforts, parks and other aspects of local life.

A community survey has been proposed to be conducted in January. It would be available online at the village's website, lincolnshireil.gov.

"The real purpose of the survey is to gather some information on residents' beliefs in the value of our services and how we're providing services across all of our departments," Village Manager Brad Burke told the Daily Herald Monday before a discussion at a village board committee-of-the-whole meeting.

Officials also want to learn how they can better communicate with residents and what kind of development people would like to see in the future, Burke said.

Lincolnshire's last villagewide survey was conducted nearly a decade ago, Burke said.

If the project progresses, residents will be told about the survey with postcards later this month and again in early January, according to village documents.

The survey could go live Jan. 5 and remain online until Feb. 6.

Burke hopes the results could be ready to share with the village board and the public in February.

Village management analyst Youssef Shoukry said he's hoping to exceed a 15-percent response rate.

If the survey is successful, officials could craft updated surveys every three years to extend the data, Shoukry said.
