Boomers bring back infielder Sciacca

The Schaumburg Boomers have extended the contract of infielder Tyler Sciacca, team officials announced Thursday.

Sciacca, 24, was having a stellar season for the two-time Frontier League champions before a leg injury sidelined him for the season. Splitting time at shortstop and third base, Sciacca recorded 63 hits in just 54 games and a .337/.382/.390 hitting line while also compiling 23 runs scored, and 26 RBI.

The 5-foot-10 infielder was a 27th-round selection by the Chicago Cubs in the 2013 Major League Entry Draft after playing at Villanova and in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
