Youth hockey tournament in Vernon Hills

Glacier Ice Arena in Vernon Hills will host the eighth annual Thanksgiving Shoot-Out Tournament youth hockey tournament Tuesday, Nov. 25 through Sunday, Nov. 30. The six-day event, one of the largest tournaments of its kind in the region, will feature more than 600 players aged 6 to 14 from teams throughout the Chicago area and from as far away as St. Louis, Missouri. The tournament is a round-robin event run by Glacier Ice Arena and the affiliated Ice Dogs Hockey Association, a Tier II association. Included in the 42 teams participating are four teams comprised of special needs players who will compete in their own bracket. Glacier Ice Arena features heated seats for fans, and admission is free on all six days.
