Schwantz taps nominee for temporary Palatine council vacancy

The name of the District 3 candidate was misspelled in the original story. His correct name is Doug Myslinski.

Palatine Mayor Jim Schwantz said Monday he plans to nominate Matt Trembley to fill the District 3 village council vacancy left by the resignation of Jim Clegg last week.

The council will vote on Schwantz's nominee at the Dec. 1 meeting.

Trembley, a local State Farm insurance agent, did not file to run for the seat in April, which means he'll hold the seat only for about half a year. Schwantz said he has known Trembley for a long time and the two coached youth baseball together.

"It was important to me to have someone in that seat for six months who wasn't going to be seeking the full term," Schwantz said, adding Trembley knows the village well and has an understanding of the village code.

One candidate, Doug Myslinski, has filed to run for the District 3 seat.

Clegg resigned because he and his wife are moving out of town.
