Man charged in Glendale Hts. gas station robbery

A man was charged with armed robbery after he pointed a gun at a clerk at a Shell gas station in Glendale Heights and stole money, police said.

The armed robbery took place about 10 a.m. Monday at the Shell station on Glen Ellyn Road, police said in a news release.

A clerk said a masked white man pointed a gun at the clerk and demanded money from the register before fleeing on foot, police said.

Police quickly located a man who fit the description of the thief walking near the intersection of Joyce and Terry, about seven blocks from the gas station. Police say they found the proceeds from the robbery in the possession of Joseph S. Krause, 39, as well as a loaded handgun.

Krause, whose address was unknown, was charged with one count armed robbery and one count possession of a firearm by a felon. He remained in the DuPage County jail Monday.
