Column sparked memories of past service

Michael Gerson's Oct. 28 column on the L'Arche program for the disabled was a very touching piece that brought to mind the years I spent working with Spred, an agency of the Archdiocese of Chicago, which seeks to integrate people with intellectual and learning differences into their local parishes. The Spred center in Bridgeport functions as a model and resource, providing training to those who would work in the program in their own parishes. Spred services are offered both to those who live with families and those living in residential facilities, from age 6 through adulthood. Visit www.spred-chicago.org for more information.
