The true role of an 'investor'

The media uses Wall Street and investor as if they were the same.

These are not investors but greedy stockbrokers, investment funds, day traders and even computers. They trade a piece of paper in hopes that they will make a one cent profit without adding anything to the GNP.

To me, an investor is someone who puts money in a business with the hope the business grows and profits and that they will also profit. Those on Wall street are only gambling that without creating. Will GM build one more car or hire a new employee because their stock went up 25 cents - no, but the selling broker takes his cut and the buying broker takes his and if there is any left the selling owner gets theirs.
