Investigators seek cause of Sikh temple fire

Authorities say they've concluded examining the scene of a fire that destroyed a Sikh house of worship in Island Lake.

The investigation continues into the cause of the Tuesday night fire, which gutted the building and destroyed the roof. Nobody was inside the temple - the Guru Nanak Sikh Mission of America - at the time of the fire.

In a news release Saturday, the Wauconda Fire District said investigators will keep working with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Illinois State Fire Marshal to gather information.

The temple opened in the late 1990s and was previously a church.
