Teachers charged with failing to report suspected sex abuse

Three Lake County teachers are facing misdemeanor charges alleging they failed to report a Gavin School District 37 instructor accused of molesting a student, and one had yet to be arrested last night. Arrest warrants were issued yesterday for John Keehan, 40, of Elgin; April Courtney, 34, of Wauconda; and Michael Lanners, 38, of Lake Villa. All three are charged with failure to report child abuse. 3 hurt, 1 seriously, in Antioch crash

Three people were hospitalized after a serious crash in Antioch yesterday afternoon, including one person who had to be taken by helicopter with life-threatening injuries, officials said. Full story.

Schaumburg police reviewing 20-year-old murder case

On the 20th anniversary of the shooting death of 15-year-old Kevin Toma at a teen dance club, Schaumburg police are conducting a complete review of the unsolved murder. Two detectives not previously involved with the case have been assigned to look at all aspects of the case from a fresh perspective and develop new leads. Full story.

St. Viator fine arts department getting $3 million renovation

St. Viator High School in Arlington Heights is beginning a $3 million renovation of the school's fine arts facilities, planned to be completed in August 2015. The renovation is the final phase of a $14 million investment that also has included a new cafeteria and other upgrades at the school over the past few years. "This is an incredible time for Saint Viator High School," the Rev. Corey Brost, the school's president. Full story.

Rotary Club leader wins Geneva community service award

Mary O'Brien of Geneva is a CEO, has been president of two towns' Rotary Clubs, and found time to be one of the first female presidents of a U.S. Golf Association club, the Eagle Brook Country Club in Geneva - where last night she was named the 2014 recipient of the Wood Community Service Award, bestowed by the Geneva Chamber of Commerce. Here we go again: Rose injures hamstring in Bulls victory

With about five minutes left in last night's game at Toronto, Derrick Rose delivered maybe his most impressive play of the season. Three minutes later, Rose slipped when trying to make a cut. He stayed on the floor, walked slowly to the bench, put on his warm-up shirt, and left everyone wondering what was wrong this time.
