A Schaumburg miniature schnauzer is recovering after being deliberately poisoned by dog treats put in its yard. Schaumburg police say commercial rat poisoning was found inside the treats and that it appears to be an isolated incident. Full story.
Lake County murder suspect captured
A Chicago Heights man charged with the murder of a Round Lake Beach man has been captured. Jeremy Anderson, 36, was on the run since the weekend. He was arrested without incident yesterday in Gary, Indiana. Full story.
Man sentenced to 26 years for Mount Prospect slaying
An Elk Grove Township man was sentenced to 26 years in prison yesterday for the 2010 stabbing death of a Mount Prospect man. Edwin Paniagua was convicted in August of the death of 52-year-old Jean Louis Wattecamps - an American Eagle baggage handler. Full story.
Suburban priest remembered for prowess with homilies and hockey
A funeral Mass is scheduled today for a former associate pastor at Prince of Peace Parish in Lake Villa who also served several other suburban churches. The Rev. James Francis Ouletta, who worked at Prince of Peace from 1995 until he retired in 1999, died Sunday. He was 80. Full story.
Streamwood man pleads guilty to reckless conduct
A Streamwood man who fired a bullet into a neighbor's house last year recently pleaded guilty to misdemeanor reckless conduct. Peter Kriescher, 50, was originally charged with a felony but pleaded guilty last week to the amended charge. Full story.
