Jennifer Hudson to present $250,000 grant to Palatine-based WINGS Saturday

Actress and singer Jennifer Hudson will present a $250,000 donation to Palatine-based WINGS as part of a grand opening Saturday of the showcase Verizon Destination Store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. The money will go to the WINGS Safe House in Chicago. The grant is from the company's HopeLine program, which provides funds and support to domestic violence prevention and service programs throughout the country.

Alongside select fans, Hudson will be treated to an inside look at the store at 804 N. Michigan Ave. featuring experiential zones that help shoppers discover the devices, features and accessories that are most suited to their mobile lifestyles. It's the second Verizon Destination Store to open in the United States. It opens at noon.
