Surviving GOP's nefarious agenda
As I reflect on the results of the November midterm elections, I think about the Democrats' ads which were designed to warn us all about the dire consequences of a Republican majority in the House and Senate.
Here's what we can expect to see in the next two years:
• Women will lose access to all forms of contraceptives.
• Racist police officers will gun down young African-American men without consequence.
• Women's right to choose to abort their unborn children will be taken away.
• Minority voters will find themselves disenfranchised.
• The 1964 Equal Pay Act will be repealed allowing employers to pay women less than their male counterparts for the exact same work.
• Medicare and Social Security will be gutted throwing millions of seniors into crushing poverty.
• The tax code will be amended to provide massive cuts to millionaires and billionaires placing the revenue burden on the middle class and the very poor.
Clearly, the misinformed electorate chose to ignore these warnings and elected Republican lawmakers across the nation. If this nation can survive the next two years of the Republicans' nefarious agenda we will be able to turn the government back to those who have brought us an increase in middle class wages, the respect of our allies and the fear of our enemies and a dynamic job market for our college graduates and minority youth.
Can 2016 come too early?
