Pedestrian injured in crash outside Stevenson High School

A 31-year-old is in critical condition after being struck by a car Sunday morning outside Stevenson High School, according to Lincolnshire police.

Police Sgt. Jamie Watson said the 31-year-old, who has not been identified, was at the east end of the school's property near parking lots C and D at about 9:42 a.m. when struck by the driver of a 2014 Kia Soul. Police would not say whether the pedestrian was a man or woman.

The pedestrian was severely injured and taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville with life-threatening injuries, police said. The 31-year-old remained hospitalized Sunday night.

The driver, whose identity also was not released, was treated on the scene and released.

The Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County is assisting in the ongoing investigation, police said. Authorities did not release any information regarding the circumstances of the crash, but said no citations have been issued.
