SUV driver extricated after crash with truck in Des Plaines

The driver of an SUV had to be extricated from her vehicle Friday afternoon after hitting a truck at Mount Prospect and Rawls roads, officials said.

The woman was driving north on Mount Prospect Road around 4 p.m., Des Plaines firefighters said, when her SUV collided with a truck trying to make a left turn onto southbound Mount Prospect Road.

The driver, who was still conscious, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment, officials said. The area remained closed for about an hour; no other injuries were reported.
