No injuries or structures damaged in Lake Zurich-area brush fire

No injuries were reported and no structures damaged in a large brush fire near Lake Zurich late Sunday, authorities said.

Lake Zurich Fire Chief David Wheelock said crews were dispatched to a 40-acre property on Route 12 near Honey Lake Road for reports of the large brush fire.

Wheelock said heavy wind caused the fire to burn across the property from west to east, and it was difficult for firefighters to reach because there was a lack of accessible roads.

Firefighters were finally able to put out the fire after it moved closer to a populated area on the west side of the property.

"We were finally able to get a line out to the field and knock it down," he said. "It took about an hour to get it out."

The cause of the blaze is unknown and the fire remains under investigation, Wheelock said.
