Blackhawks honor Hossa's milestone

Marian Hossa, he of 1,000 NHL points, was honored Sunday night with his family at his side in a pregame ceremony at the United Center.

Hossa, who reached the magic mark Thursday in Ottawa, was presented with gifts that included a gold puck from the Hawks commemorating his feat.

Midway through the first period, the Hawks played a video tribute to No. 81.

"That was a special moment, such a classy organization," Hossa said. "I'll remember this forever."

Crow time again:

Proving again that it's never a good idea to try to figure out how coach Joel Quenneville's mind works, it was Corey Crawford and not Antti Raanta starting in net for the Hawks on Sunday against Winnipeg despite it being the second of back-to-back games.

"He's fine," Quenneville said of Crawford playing two days in a row. "He's more than fine. He likes to play all the games."

Crawford stopped 26 of 27 shots Sunday.

Looking for more:

Though he has shown flashes of his old physical self early on, more out of forward Bryan Bickell still is on Joel Quenneville's wish list.

"I like when he's more physical," Quenneville said. "His play with the puck seems to be more comfortable."

But in the end what the coach really wants out of Bickell is …

"Get to the net, be hard to play against - bring that consistency to his game," he said.

Bickell must not have brought what his coach was looking for early, thus the 2:08 of ice time in the first period and just 5:13 through two periods Sunday night.

He said it:

"Hammer's fine. I don't know if I want to say fine … but he's good to go."
