Shoppers take over Elk Grove High for fundraising sale

Shoppers instead of students filled Elk Grove High School on Sunday as the building played host to the 32nd annual Elk Grove High School Holiday Sampler Craft and Vendor Show.

Long lines were out the door as more than 2,500 people were expected to attend the fundraising event organized by the Parent Teacher Council and featuring more than 200 crafters, along with food vendors, a raffle and musical entertainment.

"This is incredible with it getting bigger every year," said PTC President Susan Schneider. "The Elk Grove High School craft show is one of the premier craft shows in the area with 100 percent of the money going to help students and staff."

The fundraiser helps provide mini-grants to school clubs and activities, food during parent-teacher conferences and pays for items needed around the school, such as cafeteria tables.

"We come here every year. I like the variety of the vendors," Tom Carone of Elk Grove Village said as he looked at holiday wall hangings with his wife, Debby. "The biggest part is the quality of the homemade crafters."
