Overreaction to what teacher said

I find it disturbing that not only is it encouraged to "report" a teacher for simply having a conversation with students, regardless of whether it was off topic, but we have parents feeling justified trying to press charges against the teacher.

Seems we want to have Nazi brown shirts at every level and every opportunity to stifle and muzzle speech. Next are you going to encourage book burning? The article title seemed to implied some crazy teacher was calling people the N-word in class. But that wasn't the case.

The one student not wanting to be called African American seemed to have it right, as not all American blacks are from Africa. My wife is part Jamaican and hates being called African American. She finds it insulting.

I find it dumb to prevent this substitute teacher from teaching. Sensitivity training frankly is more like re-education camps. And it's wrong. Soon we will be like the former USSR, whispering in the bathroom for fear of the government monitors. It's scary where this country is devolving to.
