Lake in the Hills man faces drug charges

A 21-year-old Lake in the Hills man faces multiple drug charges after being busted by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office Narcotics Task Force following a two-month investigation.

Matthew Sorich, a known gang member, faces one felony count of unlawful delivery of cannabis, and three misdemeanor counts of unlawful delivery and possession of cannabis, police said Friday.

The investigation was prompted by complaints from community residents. The task force seized about 13.8 grams of cannabis with an estimated street value of $276, police said.

Sorich already was being held at the McHenry County Sheriff's Adult Correctional Facility on unrelated criminal charges and was served with a felony arrest warrant in jail Thursday.

His bond was set at $20,000. Sorich's next court appearance is 9 a.m. Nov. 7 in Room 201 of the McHenry County Courthouse.

Members of the Lake in the Hills Police department assisted with the investigation.
