No injuries reported in Elgin trash bin fire

No injuries were reported from a fire Tuesday night that affected a business in the 2400 block of Alft Lane in Elgin, authorities said.

Firefighters were called to Challenger Lighting Company, Inc. at 7:30 p.m. for a report of a large trash bin on fire, authorities said. The dock doors of the business also were on fire when they arrived at the scene, and there was a large amount of smoke inside the facility.

The fire was contained in 16 minutes, authorities said, and damages were reported to be about $60,000.

The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, authorities said.
