Hoffman Estates hosts public works open house Nov. 8

The Hoffman Estates Public Works Department will host an open house from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Susan H. Kenley-Ruplow Public Works Center, 2305 Pembroke Ave.

Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the facility, get an up-close view of public works equipment and speak with an arborist about the emerald ash borer and other tree concerns. Village staff also will be available to answer questions about water and sewer issues.

Kids in attendance can receive a personalized sign from the village sign shop, take a ride in a snowplow and take on a climbing wall (weather permitting). Each child also will receive one entry for a chance to ride in a public works vehicle in next year's Fourth of July parade.

Visitors are asked to bring a donation of a nonperishable canned good to help replenish area township food pantries.

For more information, call the Public Works Department at (847) 490-6800.
