New crew needed to right the ship

This year's election reminds me of the lessons we should have learned from the Titanic.

I see Illinois as the large, cumbersome ship bloated with some self-serving politicians drinking excessively from the taxpayers' cup partying like the bill won't come due while the vessel is headed straight toward a mighty iceberg that will reap death, debt and misery for generations to come. They are blind to the treacherous path they are steering Illinois toward with higher taxes, massive debt, unsustainable unfunded pension liabilities, high unemployment and burdensome regulations.

Illinois' ship is captained by Mike Madigan. He controls everything and everyone. His crew is totally devoted since they are all of one party, enriching themselves and garnering funds from him.

Illinois voters have a choice; whether to stay on course and head straight for the tip of the iceberg or change direction and leadership by firing the captain and crew and avert disaster. To me the answer is simple and the lesson should be learned.

I want Illinois to stay afloat and thrive again. I will be voting for Bruce Rauner, Bob Dold, Leslie Munger and Don Wilson to right the ship before it is too late.
